204 Benjamin WILBUR (Joseph , William ) was born 20 Jun 1699 in Little Compton, Newport Co., Rhode Island. He died 1772 in Little Compton, Newport Co., Rhode Island.

THE WILDBORES IN AMERICA, Vol. 1, by John Reid Wilbor and Benjamin Franlin Wilbour, 1933, page 44.
Benjamin Wilbore removed to Westerly, where as Benjamin Wilbor of Westerly, yeoman, he made his will March 19, 1772. It was proven April 20, 1772.
He died between March 19 and April 20, 1772.
He bequeathed to sons Christopher "Silver spoon marked B.W.
To wife Ruth, money left her by her first husband.
To son John my farm in Westerly and 1/2 of land I purchased of James Babcock. To son Joseph 1/2 of land bought of James Babcock.
To son David land I purchased of my son Joseph? He also made bequests to daughter Judity Hall and to Grandchildren Benjamin Coon, Jeremiah Coon, Joseph Coon, John Coon and Ann Coon.
In April 1, 1742 he with wife Deborah sold 96 acres of land in Westerly to William Wilbour, weaver of Little Compton.

Benjamin married (1) Deborah GIFFORD, daughter of Christopher GIFFORD and Deborah PERRY, on 9 Nov 1724. Deborah was born 2 Feb 1700. She died in Westerly, Kings Co., Rhode Island.

They had the following children:

36 M i Christopher WILBUR was born 23 Dec 1726. He died 1821 in New Smyrna, New York and was buried in Lystiver Cemetery, Sherbourne, New York.

They had thirteen children.

Christopher married Sarah VAUGHN on 17 Dec 1746. Sarah was born 2 Sep 1726.
+ 37 F ii Lydia WILBUR was born 3 May 1729.
38 F iii Judith WILBUR was born 23 Nov 1730.

Judith married David HALL on May 1748. David was born in Westerly, Kings Co., Rhode Island.
39 M iv John WILBUR was born 31 Jan 1733 in Stonington, New London Co., Connecticut. He died 24 Aug 1811 in Winthrop, Maine.

He was born in Stonington and removed to Winthrop, Maine. He served in the war of the Revolution and had 7 children.

John married Elizabeth LARROBIE on 28 Mar 1761.
+ 40 M v Capt. Joseph WILBUR was born 23 Sep 1736.
41 M vi David WILBUR was born 1738. He died 1826.

Lived in Westerly and had eight children.

David married Hannah PENDLETON on 27 Apr 1765.
Benjamin also married (2) Ruth PENDLETON, daughter of Caleb PENDLETON and Elizabeth COTTRELL. Ruth was born in Westerly, Kings Co., Rhode Island. She died 1787 in Westerly, Kings Co., Rhode Island.

BRIAN PENDLETON AND HIS DESCENDANTS, 1599-1910, Compiled by Everett Hall Pendleton, Privatley Printed MCMX, found in the DAR Library, Washington, DC. Page 75.
36. Ruth-4 Pendleton (Caleb-3), was born probably at Westerly, RI, and died there in 1787. She married (1) Dec 1726, at Westerly, RI, Benoni Smith; (2) Benjamin Wilbur.
Ruth's second marriage is not upon recard, but her second husband was Benjamin Wilbur, who had also been married before. His will, dated 19 Mar 1772 (Westerly C & P Rec., iv, 177), give to "wife, Ruth, the use and improvement of one third part of the money that the land sold for that her former husband, Benoni Smith Esq. died seized of." On the 2d April 1772, she gave receipt to Joseph Wilbur, executor to Benjamin Wilbur for 27 pounds 12s, 1d," in full of what was given me by my former husaban, Benoni Smith, and also given to me by my late husband Benjamin Wilbur, dec." (Ibid., p. 183).
That Ruth had some difficulty with her step-children in the settlement of this estate is evident from the following: "At a meeting of Benjamin Wilbur, being cited to appear before the Council to answer the complaint of Joseph Wilbur executor to Benjamin Wiolbur [that she had concealed some of the personal property of the dec.] appeared and made oath that she had presented all the personal estate of said deceased to said Executor. . . in order that said Executor might make an Inventory of same" (Ibid., p. 203).
Ruth probably died early in 1787, as on the 19th of March in that year inventory of estate of widow Ruth Wilbur was taken by Joshua and Nathan Pendleton.
